REVISION FOR SNOW CLOSURE – JANUARY 2010


Art

Adv H Pupils - Pupils should continue with personal projects - working on practical pieces and sketchbooks. Pupils should also continue with their Adv H written essay and research their target artists and designers.

H & Int 2 Pupils - These pupils should be revising and preparing for their written prelim. They should practise answering prelim questions and Higher pupils in particular should be concentrating on (b) questions.  Information on target artists and designers should be revised and memorised.

S4 Standard Grade Pupils - Practise in drawing and scaling up will help in the preparation for the Standard Grade prelim.


Business Studies

Please use the revision materials issued by Mr Webster for prelim exams.


Computing Subjects

Please use the past papers on GLOW to prepare for prelim exams.


Drama

S3 pupils should continue to prepare for their 'Solo' performance and complete the questions in their 'voice' booklet.

S4, 5, 6 read over booklets, notes and plays in preparation for prelim exam.


English

H/Int 2 pupils should work through exam practice papers from the Leckie and Leckie text book and should revise the texts/notes for the Critical essay paper.

SG pupils should go into the SQA website and use the past papers there; they should also read the advice given.

 

Geography

Higher Geography pupils should use their textbooks and revision booklets to note information but especially the section on Shifting Cultivation and changes affecting this type of agriculture. Past papers should also be completed.

S-Grade Geography - Complete the past paper and revise all topics. Use either BBC bitesize or www.scalloway.org.uk for all revision.

S3 pupils should continue farming booklet activities.

S2 pupils should continue with activities in their booklets.


Geology

Geology Int 1 - Pupils to revise their notes on both topics and try to complete sections in Geology the study of the Earth.

Geology Int 2 - Pupils to revise all sections and attempt past paper questions.


History

S4 Intermediate 1 & 2  - Use the revision guide given before the holidays (Int 1 blue sheet / Int 2 green sheet) for information on what to revise and advice on exam question types.  Use summary sheets for the various units along with jotter work to revise.  Past papers were handed out to some classes if you have these please use them to practice questions.  
 
Higher - Use the revision guide given before the holidays (pink sheet) for information on what to revise.  Revise the content of the German topics for Paper 1 and Appeasement for Paper 2.  If you have past papers use these to practice Appeasement source questions.  Democracy booklets were handed out in the last week of term, please start using these to read over content.  The question we will focus on is the extent to which Britain was Democratic by 1928. 


Languages

S5/6 H and Adv H pupils should work through the Reading booklets issued last term and should do another writing topic of their own choice.

S3/4 pupils should work through the Reading booklets and work on the Listening exercises on their pen drives.

Maths

Specific work for H/ADV H pupils and for S4 Credit pupils has been put in Glow.  (All S4/5/6 pupils were given log-ins and passwords before the holidays). 

Materials for S1-3 and S4G/F pupils have been posted on the “mymaths” website: www.mymaths.co.uk.  School log-in is Mintlaw and password is square.


Modern Studies/Sociology/Politics

Pupils in S4/5/6 should continue to study using the Guides and revision notes provided so that targeted revision is done for the prelim exams.
